Chautauqua Women'S Club

The five private bedroom-bathroom suites on the second floor each have a queen bed, luxurious cotton bed linens, and a newly renovated private bathroom with walk-in shower. Two of these rooms face the lake and were redecorated in formal style with new bathrooms about 12 years ago. A shared kitchenette in the central hallway offers a coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator for guest use.

Each morning a homemade breakfast buffet is served in the large formal dining room, where linen napkins, silverware, and comfortable armed chairs set the tone. Options include buffet, continental, and American selections, all prepared fresh by the house manager. The breakfast presentation has been described by guests as a five-star experience, comparable to dining at the Kentucky Derby.

The main floor holds a spacious formal living room with a grand piano, antiques, multiple conversation areas, and a large photograph of Eleanor Roosevelt who visited the club. The lakefront porch is furnished with padded wicker seating and overlooks the lawn and Chautauqua Lake. Guests can also relax in the garden located on the property.

The club sits on the lakefront next to the Athenaeum Hotel, with a short walk to the amphitheater, the Hall of Philosophy, and St. Elmo's Spa on the green. The property is at the center of the Chautauqua Institution, giving easy access to all seasonal programs and events. Erie International Airport is 69 km away.

House manager Camille Collins meets guests at the door, offers to carry luggage, and prepares the daily breakfast buffet. She provides historical information about the building and the community, and is available to answer questions before arrival. All rooms include free WiFi, and free parking is available on-site.
